With the Bottle Vase Project (2009) I tried to raise attention to the growing problem of plastic pollution, nine years later awareness has spread, yet the plastic soup keeps growing… so time for action!

Gift company GoodtoGive gave me the opportunity to work on Bubble Buddy; a project that does not just recycle plastic waste, but also prevents future waste. Bubble Buddy is a tool that promotes the use of bar soap. He can be used as a soap dish that dries a bar of soap quickly but also has a very cool grating shield. The grating shield can be used to make soap flakes that easily dissolve in soap suds for all kinds of cleaning and grooming purposes. No need for plastic soap bottles any longer!

bubble buddy is a recycled plastic soap dish with grate.

It comes in eight different colours. Packed in a gift box designed by rachel sender together with an organic soap bar, he makes a fun gift for yourself or anyone else that aims to use less plastic. Use the recycled plastic colourful soap dish to replace your plastic soap dispensers. Or use this recipe to make a whole lot of liquid soap with the grate and organic soap bar.

Includes one bar of organic cleaning soap. Use the Bubble Buddy grate to make some flakes that easily dissolve into soapy water for pretty much all your household chores; dishes, laundry, kitchen, bathroom, floors & windows. This soap even works with really dirty pots but is kind enough for lathering your hands.

The packaging is printed on eco-friendly cardboard with eco-friendly ink.

Bubble Buddy was designed by foekje fleur for goodtogive and part of the proceeds go to sea shepherd. To truly thrive, marine wildlife needs safe sanctuaries to feed, mate and raise their young without pollution, destructive fishing gear, plastics, and other marine debris that choke and destroy their habitats. Sea Shepherd opposes the pollution of this fragile ecosystem and also endorses projects that prevent more plastic from entering our waters, like Bubble Buddy.

The colourful and informative box was designed by Rachel Sender. If you don’t want to treat yourself… It’s the perfect gift for your aunty, that hipster friend, a baby shower, granny, mother in law, and everybody else that likes to make the world a cleaner place.

Size: 10,8 x 8 x 5,5 cm / Recommend size of the soap bar is approximate: 9 x 5,5 cm

creating something new from old traditions: the soap bar

creating something new from old traditions: the soap bar

Somewhere in the 1980s or 90s, many of us switched from using bar soap to liquid soap – we were told it was more hygienic. However, we were misled! Studies (John E. Heinze and Frank Yackovich, Epidemiology and Infection Vol. 101, No. 1 (Aug. 1988), pp. 135-142) show that washing with bar soap isn’t any less hygienic, so, don’t believe the hype. Now we can once again choose from a wide range of soap bars, from a moisturizing body wash to shampoo, to shaving soap and home cleaning detergent. You can find many sorts of soap bars in most supermarkets. Hand-crafted organic bar soap is your best option: it’s good for you and your environment, highly concentrated, economical in use, plastic packaging free, and hasn’t been tested on animals.
