n.b. The Olives Only bar is a re-branding of the former Baby Bar. The ‘baby’ bar is really amazing for sensitive skin and contains the most precious and nourishing oil: high-quality extra virgin olive oil. It was the kind of soap that convinced me – Foekje – to switch to natural cosmetics after it cured a rash I had had for years.
Yet the marketing of this bar was not great because the name ‘baby’ discouraged adults from using it. We think it’s new name and packaging speak to a larger audience and are more suitable for concept- and soap stores. We will continue the Baby Bar as well because it has been popular in children’s stores.
Our new soap is kindly developed and handmade in Italy with certified organic ingredients. All bars are vegan, not containing any palm oil, and obviously not tested on animals. Due to natural ingredients, it makes your skin feel not only clean and soft but also nourished. The traditional cold process technique requires patience and steadily stirring. This gentle method leads to a higher quality of the product because the oils stay intact.
The organic and vegan soap bar is highly concentrated and strong enough to challenge soap in plastic bottles and is even more economical in use. Especially when combined with a soap dish that dries your soap bar fully after each use. Bubble Buddy works very well but other options with good drainage can do the job too. The soaps are biodegradable and can be used in all kinds of filtering systems.
Somewhere in the 1980s or 90s, many of us switched from using bar soap to liquid soap – we were told it was more hygienic. However, we were misled! Studies (John E. Heinze and Frank Yackovich, Epidemiology and Infection Vol. 101, No. 1 (Aug. 1988), pp. 135-142) show that washing with bar soap isn’t any less hygienic, so, don’t believe the hype. Now we can once again choose from a wide range of soap bars, from a moisturizing body wash to shampoo, to shaving soap and home cleaning detergent. You can find many sorts of soap bars in most supermarkets. Hand-crafted organic bar soap is your best option: it’s good for you and your environment, highly concentrated, economical in use, plastic packaging free, and hasn’t been tested on animals.
